What is NDIS Short Term Accommodation & Respite?

NDIS Short term accommodation, including respite, provides interim housing which can be up to 4 weeks through NDIS funding.

It is funding for both support and accommodation for a short time away from your usual home. It covers the cost of your care in another place for a period of up to 14 days at a time. You might have a short stay with other people, or by yourself. It’s often funded when your usual carers aren’t available, or for you to try new things.

However, even without NDIS support, we are able to support those in need, even on short notice. Supported Care facilitates care with the assistance of a range of support partners.

How does the NDIS fund Short Term Accommodation (STA)?

The NDIS funds Short Term Accommodation (STA) under the Core Support category ‘Assistance with Daily Living’ (Category 1).

The amount of funding you can receive depends on the level of support you require. Generally, the more support your informal network or carer provide, the more breaks they may need throughout the year and the more funding for Short Term Accommodation (STA) you’ll receive.
