Meet Shannon, one of our original Support Workers!

Shannon (he/him) joined Supported Care in April of 2018 as one of our first Support Workers. He has been an incredible worker throughout his 5 years with Supported Care, demonstrating his passion to assist and empower people in our community.

Finishing up his Diploma in Community Services, Shannon wanted to gain experience and Supported Care was able to provide an opportunity as we were just opening our doors. He has had an amazing journey filled with ups and downs which has ultimately allowed him to develop into a more understanding, compassionate, responsible, and resilient person.

Shannon’s journey so far:

  • Support Worker

  • Group Activities and Outings Coordinator

  • Senior Support Worker

  • Community Senior

  • Recovery Coach

  • Rostering Officer

Throughout this journey, Shannon has learned to use his passion in the right way to support and empower people. Having this vast experience across multiple roles with the company, he has gained valuable practical experience to support his new role as Rostering Officer.

Shannon has met amazing people in staff and Customers in such a diverse industry. His advice to those wanting to start a career within Mental Health Services, his advice is, “get your hands dirty, don’t say no, get as much experience as possible, and be empathetic to the people we help”.

Thanks Shannon, we’re looking forward to the next 5!
